Exciting News from Hanna Municipal Library!

Jul. 08, 2024 Jenn Steinbrecker

The Hanna Municipal Library is thrilled to announce that we have been awarded the Public Library Grant for Skills Development in Rural Alberta by Municipal Affairs! This grant will enable us to significantly expand our Library of Things, offering a wide range of items including tools, garden tools, kitchen gadgets, baby gear, and much more.

Our mission at the library is to be an essential information hub and we strive to support our all-community members. Expanding our Library of Things will help those who may not have the resources to acquire costly items for projects and will give the opportunity to build a much-needed bookshelf, work on their vehicle or put in a garden. This expansion will also help cut down the need of buying items individuals will only need to use once. With this grant, we aim to provide access to a diverse array of useful items that can benefit every household. Even grandparents having littles come to visit will find something useful in our Library of Things.

In addition to expanding our collection, we are excited to reach out to local trades experts to share their knowledge and skills with our community members. Once we have our items cataloged, we will start planning workshops and sessions to educate and empower individuals in using these items effectively.

We invite all community members to participate actively in this initiative. If you have any suggestions or requests for specific items you would like to see added to our collection, please don't hesitate to reach out to our library director, Jenn Steinbrecker. Your input is invaluable as we strive to make the Hanna Municipal Library a hub of learning and a safe place to connect, learn and grow.

We anticipate this new collection to launch mid fall 2024!
