Program Coordinator

 

The Hanna Municipal Library is looking for an energetic team player who connects with children, youth and seniors.  As our Program Coordinator, you will strive to cultivate a love of reading for all ages in our community and the surrounding area.  You will continue our efforts to engage children, youth and seniors in Library Services.  With the help of our resources, you will work to encourage all members of the community and surrounding area to feel comfortable in the Library.

 

Role and Responsibilities

Coordinate Preschool Programs:

  1. Schedule, advertise and facilitate a minimum of one preschool activity per month.  This may include collaborating with our community partners.

 

Youth Programming:

  1. Develop and implement an engaging weekly youth program at the Library targeted to children aged 7-17. We would prefer that this programming inspire an interest in technology or encourage a love of literacy.
  2. Utilize Library resources throughout programing. Ex. Minecraft, videoconferencing, local collection, etc.
  3. Advertise programs adequately in the area using social media, web, networking, posters, etc.
  4. Report on program and attendance.
  5. Recommend books to children and youth. Stay up to date on current trends of children and youth literature.
  6. Collaborate with the school once per month minimum.

 

Seniors Programming:

  1. Schedule, advertise and facilitate a minimum of one seniors’ event per month.  This may include collaborating with our community partners.

 

Circulation:

  1. Will occasionally cover the circulation desk. Check books in/out, renew items, update patron information, etc.

 

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Prior experience in youth programming preferred. Experience in library services would be an asset.

Comfortable with the use of Internet Applications and Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Publisher. Knowledge of online gaming, such as Minecraft, and video games would be beneficial.

The selected candidate will be required to complete a criminal record check.

Preferred Skills

The individual will be organized as well as able to multitask.  This is a dynamic position requiring the ability to network in the community and organize large groups of youth. Time management and communication skills are critical.

Do you have a love of stories and books, or video games and movies? Join our team and enjoy fantastic conversations with like-minded individuals in the community. We are always looking for volunteers to join our team and make a difference!

WEEKEND CIRCULATION DESK VOLUNTEER

Can you spare three hours a month to make a difference in your community?
We have an opening for a weekend volunteer to run our circulation desk from 11:00am to 2:00pm the fourth Saturday of each month.

  • Circulation desk duties include:
  • Opening/closing library
  • Checking items in/out
  • Answering the telephone
  • Assisting patrons with locating materials
  • Processing and collecting fees and fines
  • Shelving books
  • Occasional information requests

ADULT PROGRAM VOLUNTEER

*Criminal record check required

This exciting position assists with various Library programs in the community. 
Usually, this requires four to ten hours per month, we are very flexible with your availability. All programs are scheduled well in advance and requirements communicated prior to the event. 
We need help with programs of all ages, from toddlers to seniors. Let us know what ages you are comfortable helping with!

You would represent the Library at all sorts of community events and fun programs!

YOUTH VOLUNTEER (ages 13 - 17)

Under 18 and looking for something to do? Join our Youth Volunteer Team!!
Help out with toddler and youth events in and outside the Library. Have your say on what activities and games would be fun for your age group and even recommend literature we should have in our local collection for teens. Join our team, have fun and make a difference!
